culinary class @ natural gourmet institute
OMG. OMG. Last night I took a four-hour class at Natural Gourmet Institute in Chelsea. The subject matter: Tempeh.
Jeeze, was this a blast. Myra Kornfeld [author of The Voluptuous Vegan] walked eleven students through the process of creating from-scratch tempeh, and five specific recipes. Most of the time was hands-on cooking. The last half hour was a Total Tempeh Pig-Out.
My favorite was Curried Tempeh with Mango and Coconut Milk. Oh. My. God. Served over jasmine rice… It was Total. Food. Porn.
What a fantastic, enlightening, and rewarding experience. I’m returning for another one-night class soon, taught again by the incredibly knowledgable and effusive Ms. Kornfeld: Seitan.
